Hans D. Strauch

Leed AP, President

As founder, principal, and creative director of HDS Architecture, Hans D. Strauch has dedicated 35 years to designing distinctive buildings and communities throughout the US and abroad.  With Hans’ vision and leadership, HDS Architecture continues to successfully deliver sophisticated and highly crafted buildings including large scale residential, commercial, retail destination, and medical facilities.

Over the course of his career, Hans has collaborated with leading real estate developers, property owners, and private institutions nationally and internationally.  Clients appreciate his expeditious ability to get projects approved by strategically merging regulatory requirements with creative design solutions and economic realities.  Hans’ practical experience, along with the talented team of designers and architects at HDS, allows each project to achieve its highest potential. 

Hans is Chair of the Board of Trustees at Lesley University in Cambridge. In addition, he actively supports several Boston social justice programs including Habitat for Humanity and The Jewish Coalition for Literacy. 

Hans received his architecture degree with distinction from Cornell University.  With his dedication to environmental sustainability, he endowed the “Strauch Visiting Critic in Sustainable Design” in 2013 in the College of Architecture Art & Planning, and in 2023, the “Broadening Participation Program Strauch Fellowship” in response to societal challenges presented by economic and social disadvantages, technology advancements and global climate changes.

During his free time Hans enjoys playing competitive tennis, reading, and hiking.

Michael Dennis

Associate | Design Director

Michael is an accomplished Architectural Associate responsible for driving HDS Architecture’s creative vision. Drawing on over 11 years of experience, Michael has directed project designs and managed project teams on large scale Multi-Unit Residential, Commercial Office / Retail, and Healthcare developments.

Michael’s focus is at the intersection of sophisticated design, sustainability, and practicality - elevating each project to the highest potential. Often working on projects at various scales and budgets, he always works creatively to develop a thoughtful design that fosters longstanding client relationships and enhances the identity of the communities in which HDS Architecture works in. Michael has his signature on transformative projects such as 525 Linc in Allston, The Devon At Weiss Farm in Stoneham, and 95 Saint in Boston.

When Michael isn’t at the office, he enjoys working on his classic car in the warmer months, cross country skiing in the winter, or traveling with friends and family in between.

Jonas Driscoll

Associate | Senior Project Manager

As Associate and Senior Project Manager at HDS Architecture, Jonas Driscoll has taken lead on the creative direction of many luxury multi-unit residential projects across the northeast, including Halyard in Gloucester, Caro and Corsa at Tuscan Village in Salem, NH. 

Jonas’ success as a Project Manager is attributed to his meticulous ability of merging a client’s vision with construction practicality – evaluating complex construction challenges and transforming them into reality. His dedication to integrating design and construction throughout the span of a development has built strong relationships with contractors and engineers alike.

When not in the office, you can find Jonas spending his time in nature, walking and adventuring outdoors, or experiencing art in many forms.  He is a lover of the written word, and is often reading or writing fiction.
